I personally wouldn't run a spool on the front.

a spool up front is just like welding the gears. you have no slippage and when you try and turn right the right tire wants to roll back and the left wants to roll forward but with a spool locking the two it makes it almost impossible with out the engine running and then it puts a lot of stress on other parts including the frame.

if you have lock outs you can keep one unlocked and this will give that side all the power and makes it street able but again that wheel will be turning no matter what your doing and could cause you to lose control

If you do, have spare u-joints and axles.  Spools never differentiate, so if you are on something other than loose ground it will put some stress on the steering.  So make sure you reinforce/support the frame prior.

There must be some reason that on the M1028 the Military went with a Detroit locker in the rear and a limited slip (not a locker):in the front.

After installing a spool/welded front diff most guys start breaking the short axle shaft.

I recommend a clutch type or Torsen type positraction differential for the front. I'm not a fan of lockers or a locked differential in the front unless it is strictly a mud only application.

Or you can get a lunchbox locker like an Aussie and get away with it.
