Original frame or not?

Hi friends. So my new '79 project rig is a 4wd but the 2nd digit of my VIN is a C, indicating that it was originally a 2wd. I'm wondering if the body was swapped over to a donor 4wd frame or if the 2wd frame was actually converted. Based on the "interesting" things that have been done to the truck by the POs, nothing would surprise me. Is there any way I can determine whether the frame is original to the truck?  Any help would be appreciated :-)

There is a VIN stamped on the frame in various places but if it was converted the front end suspension would be bolted on.  If it is riveted on the frame was most likely changed.  If the cab was changed and the VIN/title was used that would explain it.  How does over the transfer case cab floor look?

what zieg was talking about was all 4x4s have a high hump

2wd have low humps

but as you can see you can also swap the humps over or put a body lift in a 2wd to clear the transfercase.

or your vin could be swapped, usually the dash cluster will have a 4x4 indicator light if its originally a 4x4

Great stuff friends; thank you.  I'll go check the hump and the front end to frame attachments and see what's going on.
