Mounting Gauges in ashtray
« on: February 10, 2015, 06:32:27 pm »
I want to install a tach in my ashtray on my k10. Is it possible? Has anyone done it?

Of course it's possible just not an ideal spot. Why not upgrade your gauge cluster with an in dash tach?

I'd just weld the ash tray shut.

imo it would be out of place. meaning if your racing or whatever and need a tach you have to look to your right and down to see it. this is why most people mount them near the other gauges. i just snagged a tach for the stock cluster on ebay for 150

i have done it.  i don't think it's an ideal place though.   Don't have time to look for my pictures but they're on here somewhere.

You know what would be amazing? A Heads-up Display package that could be mounted on our pickups. If one of you takes that idea and makes it a reality, just kick one down to me for free and we'll call it good.

Or he could pour ketsup in it to dip his fries in while he motors along, wondering how many RPMs his engine is running.

When I was in high school, one of the scholarly fellows I associated myself with used his ash tray as a spittoon. It was....unpleasant.

Lots of my friends I went to school with and friends I have now, including a few guys at work, participate the the chewing of tobacoo. It doesn't bother me as long as it is in a sealed container where it can't spill or be smelt. Using an ashtray is just........DISGUSTING.

If your truck don't have ac you can mount a small tack in the top slot on the right side of the bezel.
