changing guage cluster to one with a tach

I recently purchased an 84 K2500. Is there any way to change the gauge cluster with one that it eliminates the clock and puts a factory tachometer to the right of the speedometer where the fuel gauge is now? I see that  one aftermarket place has all the pieces to do it but what am I going to run into with the wiring?

there is a post one here detailing it, but you would need to provide wiring to the setup.
If you get a 78-up cluster with a tach in it you can trace the wiring and swap out what you have to match IF they are different (most are not).  Any other years will require more work.

your looking at close to $200 or more for a correct cluster with a tach on ebay. seams most that i see are pre-77. i ended up snagging one up for $150 but its the old style and i want to put it in my 91 with a electric speedometer. so its going to be all fun cutting up everything

Someone sells new fuel gauges with a large tach and a small fuel gauge at the bottom

For less than the used  probably non functional 40 year old stock ones

That 3:00 position is usually a lack of ground to the sending unit

since it reads right when its at other levels I would think its a dead spot in the sending unit. No facts behind this ideal just what I'm thinking in my head

Who sells those tachs with the small fuel gauge? And how much I would like to buy one for my 79 and is it a direct fit?

You will loose 2 indicator lights where the gas gauge is located.
