Generally speaking, with the right backspacing you can run a 14" wide tire in the back

The 14" is without cutting anything. The spring will be in the way before you get to the inner fender..

The spring will be in the way before you get to the inner fender..

This isn't correct...the tire will hit the wheelwell before the spring as it sits farther outward than the spring by about 1 3/4".
It is just about the width of one space on the bedfloor. Originally when the wheelwell comes down to the floor...it meets a low portion of the bed floor, when moved back in line with the spring edge...it will come down against an upward portion of the bed floor.

Unfortunately my regular computer gave up on me & my laptop doesn't play well with Photobucket so I don't know how to do photos right now.

Attached is from an older post. If you look at my wheelwell & then one of a stock truck, you will see mine is the width of the flat rib closer toward the center than stock. This is where it ends up when widened back in line with the spring edge. http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=28899.msg241302#msg241302

Here we dicussed the same stuff...in the one picture you can see the wheelwell where it is now in relationship to the U-bolts. Hope this Helps, Lorne http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=25405.msg211994#msg211994

I moved the spings inboard and tubbed it with 15x14 rally wheels and 9.5 inch backspacing and tubbed it. only costs the price of the wheels and tites ($1000)
