Blackout Wiring

Mine was never a military vehicle, but I'd like to install a toggle switch to shut down all lighting except for the variable dash lighting (and maybe the horns).

I have not examine all the 81 Silverado wiring diagrams (the ones in the tech section are complete yes?) yet, but I'd like to ask if anyone here has done similar and/or has a good strategy for this.

A switch to kill he brake lights is all you need
Then just don't turn on the other lights

Some companies make a switch just for killing the brake lights that chirps when you hit the brakes to remind you that you dont t have brake lights

Yep that's a brake switch.

There are two slitches being pressed by thr brake pedal:

1. The one shown above. it has two plugs of wires goinh
g into it fron the top: white wire & orange wire on one ug, and a black wirr and green wire on the other.

2. There is a larger white "T" shaped switch to the right of the switch shown above. There is a plug going into its side with a lightblue & pnk/blck wires.

The wiring diagrams mention thr orange snd white being for the brake light yes?

White and orange are for brake lights. Black and green are torque converter lock up I think. Not sure about the other switch, probably cruise control I would guess. Check the wiring diagrams for your year.
