Can I use the heavy duty coil springs??
« on: July 17, 2015, 07:42:27 am »
I have a 77 c-10 Bonanza, I know I can install the HD shocks for a stiffer ride, but can I also use the HD front coil springs with out any problems? Are they the same size, will they fit right in no problems??  The truck does have the HD factory leaf springs.

Thanks,,

What are you trying to accomplish? You want a stiffer ride? You can run heavy duty springs but you will needs to do an alignment after you replace them.

Yes, a stiffer ride.  Right now its a little bouncy.  I will certainly do an alignment after. Thanks

you do realize you will go from a little bouncy to really bouncy with a stiffer ride?
if you want a smother ride you need softer springs but you will compromise handling and control vs ride comfort

I guess i should have stated, i dont want the floaty ride, like a boat.  Question:  Do coil springs actually "go bad" how do you know when they need replaced??  Thanks

they will sag but i think you might need shock absorbers. they will take the bounce out, they go bad they will leak and dirt will stick to them.

Your problem doesn't sound like springs. You should really do a thorough check of the front end and frame/rivets
