1978 Gmc High Sierra C2500 - Camper Special

I thought I'd share my truck with you guys. Just picked it up

78 Gmc C25 (Camper special is what the previous owner told me). 350 Small Block rebuilt , Th400 (which is currently leaking all over my driveway), long bed, 8 bolt axles, dual gas tanks. Im going not looking to do a full resto just get it running as a hauler.

So far the problems I need to tackle:

-Figure out why the heck the tranny fluid I put in ends up on the floor. Fix/replace turbo 400.

-redo Front passenger tire - the bead is gone and the tire goes flat

-Need to put back the interior as I received it in boxes. (no screws to go with anything..)

-Figure out why only one gas tank works

-get the fuel gauge to work

-Clean up the paint.

Let the fun begin!!

trans leak could just be an o-ring on the modulator or dip stick tube, or possibly a crack on either or. I remember cracking a tube where it meets the tranny, on a engine replacement.

I hope its something simple. It's finally the weekend, ill be spending a couple hours underneath the truck. Ill report back with my findings!

I hope it isnt too much of a job/leak, if im going to have it towed to a shop to be repaired i may as well get a rebuilt turbo 400 (there about $200-250)

it could be the pan gasket. the fluid will be pretty much all over the place if its a bad pan leak.

other problems could be the kickdown cable seal, cooler lines, govenor cover seal, and probably more

You'll most likely have to replace the tank switch-over valve to get your second tank to work. It may also fix your fuel gauge because I replaced the switch-over valve on my '74 and my fuel gauge is working again.
