Recheck harmonic dampener mounting depth and/or get a 2 groove WP pulley and use the outer groove....

Mine was a delco reman from Amazon and was wrong.
I went to napa and they had the correct pump and and reservoir.

Thanks I checked the other parts stores today no luck they were all the same as what I have.
I'll try Napa tomorrow.

I think the damper and crank pulley are okay. The alternator / water pump belt looks perfectly aligned.
Before I mess with anything else I am going to try Napa as blazer74 suggested.

Was this a running engine prior to this issue or are you putting this together?

Original running engine.
I started with replacing the worn, sloppy steering gear. While I was at it I replaced the pump and lines because the PS fluid was burnt, brown and stinky.
Although the original pump was working I did not want to risk pumping junk into the new steering gear.
Unfortunately I returned the original pump for the $15 core.

not being familiar with your set up nor powersteering brackets but with that bracket that appears to be bent from the factory. is it possible to flip that bracket around so its not bent outward but inward

How long ago did you return the core? Maybe you could get it back.

All started with the pump change, could also have a longer snout.

It doesn't look like that would work. The weld nut will be on the wrong side.
I'll give it a try tomorrow.

I changed the pump, lines, and steering gear February 2015.
My core is long gone.

Stupid me. I knew there was a problem when I installed the the new pump a year ago but at the time the truck was new to me and I had so many other issues to deal with I let it go until I repaired all of the other major problems.

maybe i wasnt clear or maybe im not thinking clear. but the bracket that bolts from the inboard side to the pump (from this angle it only looks like a piece of flat bar with two holes and a bend)

Wow! Makes me leery to want to replace my leaking pump and lines now! I don't want that headache! And knowing my luck, it's exactly what would happen to me! I swear every time I go to the parts store for something for this truck I get blank stares from the staff like I have lobsters crawling out my ears or something! Lol! I hope you can come up with a workable solution!

I usually look things up on my own prior to going to the auto parts store so I know in m getting the correct parts or I show them the info from their website when the can't find what I want.

I like dealing with the napa people in their smaller stores but watch the prices on some things that are napa re-boxed same part as the discount chain stores but more money.

A cardone steering gear can be as much as 20 bucks more at Napa vs others and the exact same part and box. I bought it at oriellys cheaper.

I've also bought a evap purge sensor for my ranger at Napa in a Napa branded box and was a motorcraft part so you have to watch.

Having read through this a few times, have you put a couple washers between the pump and the inboard non adjustable bracket, the one Irish_Alley pointed out

That should push the pump closer to the engine, rotating the pulley clockwise, as viewed from the top

The inner bracket is as pictured here...

Will the pulleys align if you loosen or remove the bolt circled in yellow in the image below?
