My truck is going to be on TV!

My truck is going to be on TV!

Hey guys,

Long time no post.... been super busy!  We have a brand new TV show we're filming for Velocity and  between it and everything else my typing time is so limited.

Anyway, I was over filming some new episodes for Truck U last summer with Matt Steele and Bruno Massel and at lunch I asked my friend and also the owner of Brenton Productions if he could use a truck for any of his TV shows.

Brenton Productions produces these 4 shows,

1: Truck U
2: Two Guys Garage
3: Car Fix
4: All Girls Garage

I showed him a picture of my truck and he said,

"We'd love to use your truck on one of our shows"

So last November I drover it from Stuart, Florida to Tampa, Florida and they've had it ever since.

Here's a couple of pictures I took right after their Fabricator Mike drove it into the Two Guys Garage set.

I'm excited to get it back.  Don't mind driving the wife's car but the license plate reads,

MKS BABE

And I always feel uncomfortable driving her car around.

I'm not sure 100% everything they're going to do but so far they've installed the Dana Sniff Turbo 400 Short Shaft and the Dodge NP203 Transfercase.

Sad to say the crew isn't as good at taking and sending pictures as I am but I'll post what I get.

Hopefully you get your truck back in decent condition. I've got 2 friends that have let tv show mechanics "upgrade" their vehicles and both of them spent well over $10,000 getting them back to running condition. One of them was wrecked, the other was robbed of all its upgraded parts. Built 4BT/NV4500/Atlas 2 and built Dana 60/14 bolt was replaced with cheap crate 350/th350/NP203 and stock 10 bolts.

Sorry, but i can't support any of these glitzy, commercial car shows.  They are basically useless to me.

i learn more from real guys on youTube posting their own videos.
For example, i got a good idea on how to mount an electric fan by watching this guy:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGtPZXZjcbQ

See, that what we NEED---detailed information.  Not joking around, talking about beer/women, bragging about shiny new parts, but not showing how to install them etc.

Well, good luck to you and your truck, but i can't and won't support these garbage shows.

Mike, I'm glad you checked in and everything is going well.
Looking forward to seeing your truck on the show.
I've seen you on an episode of Ship-Shape TV.  Maybe someday you and the truck will be on TV together.

Stuart, It's nice that you enjoy watching backyard hacks on youtube but it's not a fair comparison to a TV show that is intended to show performance products being properly installed so you can get an idea of how it fits and how it works. It is not intended to be a step by step hand holding segment. His rigidly mounted cooling fan will help him with electrolysis and down the road failures. Don't believe everything you see on youtube as being a correct or ideal repair.

Mike, thanks for checking in and updating us. I look forward to seeing the outcome. Good luck with it.

I have to say, all the tv shows about car suck. I've seen quite a few of these tv cars in person and they were all full of shoddy work. Overhaulin and Fast and loud are two of the worst. They scammed their way on tv then scammed anyone dumb enough to buy their trash. No one would watch a show about a real, professional shop. There isn't enough drama and stupidity. I don't think any of these car shows are for real car people, just for people that don't know any better.

I used to own a motorcycle shop that built drag bikes. A few of my mechanics begged me to allow a film crew in to make us famous. After 3 days I caught the producer sabotaging a bike to create some drama. Had someone ridden that bike, they would have died. I beat the guy half to death, and threw them all off the property. They tried to sue, but my survalence cameras had more than enough proof that they tried to murder whoever tried to ride that bike, so they dropped their case pretty quickly. To me, any and all of these shows are at best worthless and at worst murders waiting to happen.

Biggest problem with these programs are they are out of touch of the average person. Power block, Two Guys ......

Having all the latest equipment and not to mention the price tag of such endeavors is not achievable for the working family man which I relate to.

People with more money than sense purchase Fast and loud cars etc that are way overpriced for example.

Buys them for bottom dollar if not ripping off the unknowing than selling at the opposite extreme.

How much is staged, a lot I guess, who knows.

Programs are entertaining for sure.

Here on this site we have a guy getting ready just to replace his engine and counting pennies to get it done.

Now that's doing something.

IMHO.

They're marketing to people that will buy their product. Rich kids and guys that would rather spend their money on their car for some bragging rights because they don't have a life and probably have a source of income, of course the occasional enthusiast who likes or owns what they're working on and bam, you've got effective marketing. They don't make these shows to teach guys who know better....

Appreciate them for what they are and be smart enough to know what they are doing or change the channel.

This is the most logical thing I've read here yet.

Congrats on being on TV tho, no matter what it's still cool.

I used to watch fast and loud when it first came out, then it was mostly about buying and flipping muscle cars, but now it is all big money, beer and woman, and thats fine...like vile said, just change the channel.  Maybe check out the waltons or andy griffith. Lol

But really, a lot of the shows i still watch on velocity. I watch graveyard carz, because i really like mopars from the 60's and 70's, and thats fine too. That show is pretty clean, and unless its all fake, they do some nice factory restorations. Obviously some of the conversations are staged.

Another show that got stupid is counting cars. All fake now.

You have ro watch them for the right reason.  If they are restoring a 2006 ferrari, who cares!!! If its a 60's or 70's muscle car, great. Or an old truck of course.

Eat the meat, spit out the bones.

Oh, and thanks blazer...

Good luck on the show by the way.

Hey thanks!

As for all the other opinions?  Everyone is entitled to one!   8)

I like most car guy TV shows.  Even if I didn't work with a lot of the guys in the tv world I still like watching the shows.  I also like knowing and working with these guys.

Last week I went out to dinner with Bruno Massel.  The week before Wayne Carini was our guest ar our Cars & Coffee car show.

Went to a charity dinner with Wayne and had a great time.

Not only am I happy to let my buddies Jared and Lou have some fun working on my truck and sharing projects with it as their canvas I consider it bragging rights.

Can't wait to get it back!
