TODAY is a Great Day to visit our Store and order the parts you need for your truck ! ! !
It was a 3 spd manual before and PO had removed the neutral safety switch and butt joined the yellow and purple wires together. I suspect this may be the problem as this happened once before but apparently mysteriously fixed itself as the truck started shortly after the first time it happened. Will check out that joint. Dumb question ....was there a starter interlock switch on manual trans trucks and if so where is it?Have not added a clutch interlock switch. . Also have connected a remote starter switch between the 3/8 bat connection lug on the solenoid and the S terminal lug. Nothing happens same as with trying to use the start position on the ignition switch. Reason says a direct connection between those two would bypass anything in the ignition circuit and at least kick the solenoid in ?? Reason is not prevailing here.I thought maybe by some far outside chance there was a ground problem between starter and motor/frame/body and even ran a separate ground wire from the front mounting stud on the starter itself to battery ground......zero effect

They work fineMy Droid from orbit

Found A problem and very well could be THE problem. Took the starter off to bench test it again and the solenoid kicked in and spun the starter. On a hunch I took the front plate off to check the "brushes" and one of the spring clips that puts pressure on the brushes to hold them against the armature was broken in half and had fallen out. One half of it had an arc burn on it so may well have caused a direct short .....Hecho in Mehico...... Hope this is it.
