Ok LTZ, at least your honest, i'll respect that.  Regarding fords, that is.

And roundhouse, you are correct. Of course they should be perfect when they are brand new, but 10 yrs down the road is what matters.

Oh yeah, i take the prize for being the stupid one and selling a car i should have kept. Are you ready,,,,70 chevelle LS 6.  Beat that.
Edit: but in 1985, they were everywhere.
In 1983 my 69 cyclone Yarbrough edition was worth $500

Now it would be worth $40K

The same day i sold it I went to a local auto auction and a guy was there with a 69 GTO judge 455/4 speed

I kinda liked it but didn't think it was worth his reserve of $1600
And neither did anyone else at the auction .....

A 69 JUDGE!!!!!!.......455!!!!.......4 SPEED?

I know how you feel...

Some reason everyone thinks that all the cars that are desirable and expensive now were always expensive and highly sought after

Not true.    At some point they were all just worn out gas guzzlers that literally no one wanted

When I was in high school there were dozens of Camaros, Chevelles on two foot centers, Mustangs a plenty. 60s, 70s, 80s. Obviously 1/2 the trucks were square body 73-87s (well 87s weren't built yet) plus a few 67-72s.

That was just what was plentiful and what everybody drove. Now days what was common is rare and fauned over.

What I find entertaining is how Furd claims to have the best selling truck for 643 years running, and for most of those years they did sell more than any single brand, but add the twins together and the ratio is about 1:1 Ford/GM. Where are all of the Fords that used to fill my high school parking lots? I can't remember the last time I seen a 80-86 F-series 4x4. Same for the 87-91s. 92-98s occasionally but only the F-250/350. No F-150s. Once in a while I'll see a 80-86 4x2, but even those are rare. I can't go anywhere that I don't see several 73-87 GMs. And 67-72 aren't exactly rare.

Very very true engineer and roundhouse. I remember that 80's style ford truck, i drove an 86 econoline van on my job. Anyway, they're all rusted to pieces, couple stragglers here and there. Same goes for the 92-96 generation, there are actually quite a few of those out there, but most are heavily rusted, especially around the rear wheel wells.

During the mid 80's we used to hang out in a large parking lot opposite a strip mall, it looked like a huge car show does today. Every make and model from the 60's and 70's could be seen there. 6k would buy you just about any one of them, in showroom condition. Chevelle, road runner, mustang, whatever. Those were some good ole car days. I paid $1200 for my LS 6 Chevelle. Today, six figures.

I remember the 73-87 gen. quite clearly, they were everywhere! Just a plain old simple pick up truck. In 86 i drove a brand new custom deluxe right from the showroom back when i worked at a country club. We used to beat on it and burn the clutch until it smelled funny, after "smoking" we used to hold the lighter in untill it got real red hot and sink it into the dash pad. I was just a punk kid.

In case your wondering, yes, two diff jobs, same year.
