GM correct decal.
« on: May 05, 2016, 11:00:41 am »
Does anyone know if this is a gm 70's period correct decal? I believe it goes on the fan shroud.

I've never seen that on any of our trucks but hey it doesn't hurt to remind people. Just ask the guy who lost his thumb

Ya know what, it could be a generic emblem, it looks retro anyway. And your right, i actually met a guy who DID lose a digit from a fan. Good call.

Ohhhh, i can almost feel it. You probably saw my post last Oct. i think it was called "ever get injured" or something. In summary i smashed my pinky against the socket wrench handle with a sledge hammer trying to loosen lower bolt on rear shock. Blew it open. All good now though, my worst fear was i play classical guitar. Didnt touch it all winter.

Edit: I now know what a breaker bar is. My brother and i each had a leg on it with a glowing hot bolt, and it just started to move. And it was soaked in pb blast.

I knew THAT decal was out there, but as usual I should have kept reading, it says it's for GM 1964-1977, so it looks like I'm okay. Of course, I did make mine, first I printed it correct to size then taped each side with clear gorilla, then a micro thin layer of black rtv on the bottom, tough as nails. Saved $10 plus shipping.  Thanks jwjones.

You know it, thanks. And the best part, I really do think twice before sticking my fingers in there. As we often do to make little adjustments on carb and what not.

Classic Industries has decals. I just buy them and use the vinyl decal edge sealer pen.
