82 C20 Squeaking
« on: June 07, 2016, 06:47:46 am »
I have a strange squeak coming from my truck.  It sounds like it is coming from the front, but not 100% sure.  It seems to let up some when brakes are applied, and gets worse when pulling my trailer.  I'm thinking possibly the wheel bearings.  Any thoughts?

Does it change with speed?  Stop once you get up to a certain mph?  I had the same thing thought it was the front wheel bearings and it turns out it was the speedo cable which is common.  You can try disconnecting the cable from the trans and see if the problem stops.  Also try jacking up the front and spinning each wheel to listen for bearing or brake noise.
