Tach move?

I have had an aftermarket tach in my truck for several years, I think it comes very handy in helping to keep the truck running right. I have had it mounted to the column and recently I mounted it directly to the front of the dash just left of the clock. I am thinking of mounting it in the dash where the clock is currently and does not work anyway. I believe it will fit nicely because the size is about the same. Yet at the time I do not know how to keep it in place. I was wondering if anyone else has done this.

I put a boost gauge in the lower left spot(most likely where your clock is) it did require some cutting of the cluster. Give me a few hours and I'll be able to get you a few pics

Here are some pics, I was trying to do the least destructive methods, but my need to want a gauge in that spot over ruled my decision to not hack away.









The other way I have seen it done is to cut the actual overlay little by little till the gauge slides in but doesn't fall through, only thing with that is the gauge is now at a separate level over the other gauges and it looks weird.

I converted my 1979 Scottsdale from idiot lights to guages with factory tach.  Pretty happy with the results!
