TV cable

There's an Edelbrock Performer RPM and a Holley 780 on top of my 400.  Behind that is a 200-R4.  I bought all the correct Holley brackets to hook up the TV cable.  The guy that built the transmission says he thinks the geometry isn't quite right.  He ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer.  Anyone ever have an issue with the Holley brackets not being correct?

Oh, and is there a better throttle cable for this set up?  The standard one is a bit long.

I have the same throttle/TV cable bracket, I actually cut it in between the 2 cable mounting holes, then I drilled 2 holes in the throttle cable side and cut to slots in TV cable side, so the throttle cable side is the base, bolts to the carb still, the TV cable side is adjustable now, it slides back and forth. I'm gonna find a new bracket for it tho, I think. It works but it could be better. As for the throttle cable, if you mean it's too long and your referring to the loop between the firewall and bracket, that loop is supposed to be there.

Boy, I'd like to see a picture of that.

The only modification I made was to drill a small hole in the cable bracket under the TV cable.  That's where I hook the springs.  The spring tension is a bit too tight but I couldn't come up with a better idea.

Again, it's not perfect and could be better but it worked. I would try and find some version of a factory bracket, that's what I was going to do to.

Actually your mechanic is right, possibly. 700R4 and 2004R require specific geometry in the TV setup. bowtieoverdrives.com provides this information. They sell a kit http://www.tvmadeez.com/ that will provide the correct geometry otherwise you will have catastrophic failure and incorrect shifting

I've put over 1000 miles on it so far.  The trans shifts pretty well, no catastrophic failures.

The brackets I'm using are the ones that Holley sells that are supposed to be for the 700 and 200R4.

My only gripe about the shifts is that they are at way too low RPM.  The trans has a lo-po valve body and governor so I suppose that's to be expected.  I'm not sure what shift kit the builder put in but we talked about it and he said he should have put the Trans Go kit in.  So I know that whatever is in there, isn't the Trans Go kit.  That one seems to be the most preferred.

The builder was only commenting about how the linkage/geometry looked.  Again, he ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer so that's why I'm asking.

LT..i feel the same way about the cable, seems too long, why does that loop have to be there? Only causes it to stick a little, can it be made more direct? They should have made it shorter and put a small titanium cam in there and charged an xtra $20 to the sticker price. Lol

I always tried to think of a way to modify and shorten, make it more direct.
