I am running into an issue where the top of my spindle is rubber the underside of the upper control arm lip. This is on an 81' C10 2wd with 2" drop coils and 2.5" drop spindles.
I can't trim the lip because my stock A arms are powder coated and I don't want to ruin the finish. I have heard that taking the upper ball joint and mounting it so the ball joint flange is against the underside of the A arm is a pretty common method of correcting the issue. I'm just wondering how safe it is though considering normally the flange would keep the ball joint in place if the bolts were to snap.
The first pic is of the issue at hand and the second pic is what it looks like if I mount the ball joint from the underside of the A arm. Please note that the second picture is from the passenger side whereas the first pic is the drivers side.
