Battery died this morning XD
« on: December 16, 2016, 08:02:31 am »
Went out to start my truck up this morning. Turned the key, engine said pfft, a dash light flickered on the right back off, then nothing... It got down to 27°F last night, so I guess the cold killed the battery XD

550 cranking amps
675 CCA
You guys think that will be enough for my 83 gmc Sierra classic in this cold until I can get a new battery for my truck?

Your CA rating is less than the CCA rating?

I would say a minimum 700 CCA rating but would recommend an 800 CCA battery. PS what is XD?

I may have mixed them up, I was looking at it upside down..

XD is an emoji, this:

I'm thinking about getting one of those Walmart ValuePower batteries for the time being, then maybe returning it in a week or two and getting the EverStart, lol. The Group 78 ValuePower has a 600 CCA rating, but the Group 65 has a 650 CCA rating. Just gotta see if the 65 will actually fit.

Edit: on a side note, it's a little crazy that I dreamed my truck broke down last night and it actually did this morning...

If you have a Rural King in your area, they sell a good battery for the money. Plus there made by Exide. I bought a 700CCA - 850CA for under 60.00 this past summer.

I ended up just getting an EverStart Maxx Group 24 battery. 700 CCA and I think 875 CA. Couldn't really afford it atm, but got it and we just gotta watch our money this week XD
