« on: October 27, 2006, 12:42:00 pm »
im trying to find a new tailgate for my '73 C20, but nobody seems to sell one. i can only find em for 67-72 and 76-80 but nothing in between. does anyone know where i can find one for a '73, or would one from a different year fit?

sorry i forgot to mention, but its a fleetside style (i dont think the 20 series 3/4 ton came in a stepside style...). but anyways, i checked at the brotherstrucks.com site and they didnt have for the 73-75 fleetside pickup, only the blazer and suburban.

does it have to be new? you can make any year tailgate work, I think you just have to change mounting hardware on certain years.

I put a 86 truck gate on my 74 blazer and it bolted right on. I had to use all the hardware from the 86. All the mounting points was in the bedsides of my blazer.

Tailgate

tailgate2

tailgate3

Any of these should work you just need the corresponding hardware from the same year as the gate. What ever you do don't waste your money on an aftermarket gate.

Any gate 73-87 should fit. The 73 had different mounts on the right lower hinge and the gate had factory guides or ears on them. They were eliminated and many of the earlier gates had raised outer markings like on my 74 GMC the GMC is on the upper left hand side of the gate.

I wanted a blank one for my 85 Chevy so I bought an aftermarket one and it fits perfect. I got mine from Keystone/Veng

did anyone here bid on the second tailgate? I was bidding and was sniped while at work. You win some you lose some.
