New cowl induction hood

Everyone knows how these old chevy hoods bend and Crack in the middle
When I bought new fenders, hood and hood hinges, a month later all new from   the hood still bent. I scrambled and bought a hood brace kit from  
That hood has stayed together because of the kit. My question is anyone know if the cowl induction hoods for the 78 bends and cracks like the factory style
And are others still using a hood brace on there new hoods

There are many different cowl hoods on the market so I can't speak for all of them but lower tension springs can help too. I once had a fiberglass cowl hood and used a prop rod setup because I was afraid it would crack. The hood was designed to fold in that spot in the event of a frontal impact so installing a brace does prevent that feature from functioning. If you are going to use a steel hood, look into lower tension springs.

Where would I look up those kinda springs up? Could I just remove the springs? I believe the brace kit I bought from   does help because it still hasn't folded like my previous hood. But thanks for the info

Just google 73-80 low tension hood springs. You can remove the springs but would need a prop rod.

I bought these exact springs when I bought my Harwood fiberglass 4 incher

super simple install and they make a huge difference. you can get away without springs but the steel hoods are heavy and even the fiberglass hoods arent the lightest when you are talking about opening them yourself
