Hi guys like the title says I'm new to chevy and I'm very glad to be here. I got a picture of my 86 c10 350 engine truck got her for a good price. But having a big problem and just need a little guidance the guy I got the truck from replace the engine new carb and everything. My problem is I see a vacuum hose just open right under the carb and have no clue where it goes ? Also having a problem with the truck just cutting off. I have to press on the gas just to keep it crank ? Can it be that hose that's open. I'll post a picture thanks guys for your help.

Family is not an important thing. It's everything.

what happened to your old chevy? and post bigger pictures so we can see. vacuum leaks can cause the engine to stall

Put a rubber cap on it and see if your stalling problem stops. Is the truck stock or did the PO remove all the "factory stuff" ie various vacuum switches etc.

I'm at work at the moment I'll try to get better pictures. My old chevy had to be sold sadly didn't have the room when I moved. Rattler12 I tried putting a cap on the hose but nothing changes. I don't feel any suction or air coming from the hose. I spoke with the original owner he stated that he canceled the PCV valve but still have the canister and original harness and wires but not original motor. Could it be that it set for a whole year ?

When you mentioned that the engine sat for a year, did the carb have fuel in it when it was parked?

Looks like the hose would have went to the pcv valve.
Did he make the proper adjustments on the carburetor when he installed the new one? Could just have the idle set too low.

...I spoke with the original owner he stated that he canceled the PCV valve....
What does this mean? Did he "hide" the PCV valve from view or eliminate it? PCV is a passive device and very beneficial to engine longevity.
I agree, larger pics are in order.
