Seal between Master cylinder and brake booster
« on: February 18, 2017, 01:25:13 pm »
I am replacing the master cylinder on my 1975 GMC pickup, and when I pulled off the master cylinder I found a round rubber "cup" seal between the master cylinder and the power brake booster.

The rubber seal is partially broken and the rest of the rubber is in bad shape, so I want to replace it. I think its mainly a dust seal, so I don't think it affects the brakes. However, I can't find it in any online parts lookup (Rockauto, etc.).

Any suggestions on where to find this cup seal?

Thanks,

Bruce

It's part of the booster. I don't know if you'll be able to readily find it.

I ended up buying a new booster to go along with the master cylinder.  Probably not a bad idea oveall, since the booster is probably original to the truck.

I did find a similar seal at a couple of Corvette supply houses, but they wanted $33 just for the seal.  The entire new booster was only about $95.
