Running/Tail lights
« on: March 14, 2017, 08:44:26 am »
Morning guys, need help - my 82c10 has aftermarket strip LEDs for the brakes and signal lights.  Brake lights/signal lights/harards all work fine, however no running lights.  Guy I bought the truck from had a wiring mess under the bed.  From what I can see, he wired the lights, straight to the harness, there are a few lose wires (again, horrible job wiring) that I have no idea what they are - assume they are the running lights).  The strips have white/black/red - just found out white is the ground on these, not black.  Any idea what the colors are coming out of the harness?  Green, light green etc...?

The wiring diagrams are in the tech section which would be a good place to look. It sounds like a hack job so I would advise you to repair it correctly, put it back to stock. If you want to modify it correctly at least you would have a good foundation for a starting point.

Go to Northern tool and buy some trailer light wiring. Brown feeds running lights and license plate light, green is left blinker, yellow is right blinker, white is ground. Brake lights are fed to the green and yellow by the turn signal switch on the column so you don't have to worry about them
