Dies at a stop..

86...gmc...4x4...305

Pickup wants to die when sitting at a stop... Like longer than a minute of idling in gear... Usually starts doing it when  it's time to go then it's like it's starving for gas... Have to pump the pedal attempting to keep it running... After I get going then its
's back to normal...

Could it be pick up coil? Thought if it was it may do it more than just at a stop...

I did recently put on a electric fuel pump to eliminate the mechanical one on previous issue I had... Think I might swap it back and go from there...But you would think it would deliver fuel at idle if it does while driving though...

How did you install the pump? The mechanical pump works fine for carburetors.

How did you install the pump? The mechanical pump works fine for carburetors.
I was having idling issues at the time and a friend had a electric one so installed it to rule mine out...installed it where the mechanical one was...filter before and filter up by carb

Most electric pumps need to be close to or even inside the tank. I would reconnect the mechanical and change the fuel filter. As far as the stalling issue:

check carburetor, check for vacuum leaks, check for tune up, check ignition timing.

to add to this, high idle could be a vacuum leak and stalling like you talk about could also be a vacuum leak or poor tune.

Just changed back to mechanical pump... Seems like that was the issue... I believe it was running out of gas like the pump wasn't keeping up...
