What is the diff. between a carb engine and a tbi? I have been told the heads are not the same.
Thanks
Mike

Injected heads the four holes in the midle for the the intake are at a diferent angle than the others. Carbed heads the holes are all the same angle. You can buy an aftermarket carb intake to fit injected heads.

problem is engine is a carb and I have tbi. 3 years ago I had a jasper engine installed, the installer ordered a carb engine its done good till 6 months ago started surging and idleing rough took it to a shop and they could not figure it out, they unpluged the egr and it runs good. well long story short I can't change out the motor but my service engine lite comes on now showing code 32 (egr) it will stat on until I cut off the truck and will stay off for awhile maybe 100 miles then its back on won't come on on short trips 50 miles or so. can I get a chip to fool the emc? or do I have to live with the ses lite. if I hook up the egr it runs real bad and will cut off at deceleration and idles very rough
thanks
Mike

Check all of the vacuum lines.  While the truck is running what does the engine do when you pull up on the EGR diaphram?

port design on the head will not cause the TBI engine to surge. If it did have an effect, it would have started from the get go.

The EGR solenoid is probably sticking. Just replace it.
