This is my father in laws truck it was his daily driver before he passed. I’ve brought it back to life and just want it to be a great truck. So bear with me on this journey I’ve kinda got ahead of my self before I remembered to take pics

This is what the engine bay looks like right now i previously installed the power steering pump a month ago so excuse the A/C compressor just randomly in the way , we will take care of that later....Right now we are going to try to fix the kinks in the hood

^ Thanks for the help Mike, now these are the kinks in my hood, i know i need a new hood but im replacing the top end of the engine pretty much so that will have to wait a little while until my funds recoup. The hinges are worn out they literally move side to side way before they move up and down and have cause this damage i have new hinges and some hood supports on the way!!!

This is my hood straightening tool lol,  its made it a bit flatter and has taken some of the bow out we will see in a couple days when the new hinges come how much it really worked, Hopefully tomorrow i will be able to put the new intake manifold and carburetor on!!!!!

I bought the same year and the hood was doubled over like that one.

Found the correct hood in a truck recycling yard, perfect shape, got lucky!

I'll be posting pics some day, after I get the firewall painted...

After your get it straighten out you might want to weld some steel to strengthen it until you get a replacement hood. You have a nice truck. Having the A/C is a big plus. My truck was a non A/C Colorado truck. I bought a Gen IV Vintage Air system for it and will install it when I get to that point in my build.

All right guys did a little bit today, I feel like I got a lot done actually lol I’m replacing the carb and intake and valve covers also, but I got the old carb and intake off today I wish you guys could have told me the intake would weigh 100lbs Tomorrow I’m planning on cleaning most of the crude off of the engine so I can prepare to put all the new stuff on

For something so cosmetically ugly, the inside looks pretty clean. Someone must have kept the inside clean...

Watch out for any debris falling in your engine. Vacuum up around your pushrods and lifters and cover up the area so nothing can contaminate or mess up your engine.

Great advice, do the intake ports as well.

Tomorrow I plan on cleaning up everything and vacuuming debris like you guys said, should I clean that valley with the lifters and push rods?

I got some stuff done today!!!!! I was only able to put one valve cover on due to a new gasket being torn right out of the new package smh. We are almost to the promise land. Does anybody have any tips or tricks to clean the engine bay ? I think im going to cover all the important components degrease the underhood and spray paint it to give it some life its pretty dull
