bigger cam and another question
« on: January 11, 2007, 10:31:00 pm »
I just got a free lunati .488 .488 lift cam, roller rockers, lifters and pushrods . Is this cam too big for a completely stock 87 350 tbi? Also, Ive been reading alot and Ive found that most parts for my truck need a chip reprogram. Im old school with engines, would it be worth it to switch to carb that way i wouldnt have to worry about the computer? This truck will basically see some strip action and cruisin around town. Thanks guys.

I would get one that is compatible with EFI, not just randomly chosing one.  I would suggest a Computer compatible cam.

Your ECM can handle that cam profile but you will experience idle hunting unless you find a compatible memcal for that cam. If you are going to use the roller rockers then pull the heads, do a valve job, get screw in studs, replace the valve springs with the correct ones that will work with your cam and keep it TBI.
