Bed floor

So on my 1981 C10 the bed floor is all but perfect, because when my dad bought it new he put a fiber glass cap on it and put an extra seal between the bed rails and the cap to make it water tight. Then made a floor out of 1/2 plywood to protect the floor from anything he put in it.
So today I was pressure washing it and blew a little paint off the bed floor and it looks like the bed floor is galvanized !?! Is that how they made them in 1981?? And if so when I get ready to paint the bed how do I get paint to stick to the galvanize?

Depends on how you are going to use it. Is anything going in the bed? Is your plan just to paint it and have it look nice or are you going to use it?

Probably going for “look nice” first “durability” second as I don’t think it’s going to get much use. Truck is going to have classic tags and limited use, not a daily driver. If your thinking a “rhino lining” type product I’m not a big fan on how they look. And I have 2013 Silverado that is my daily, so if I need a truck to haul anything I have that.

I think what you have ( along with the rest of us) is called galvannealed steel. I've been told to just hit it with 80 grit DA and paint away. it was made to be painted.
