Can anyone tell me what it means when the tranny will not go into drive as soon as you put it into drive gear?  The tranny shifts fine and goes into reverse but only when the tranny is cold it take a few moments to go into drive gear.  Is there a pump or something that can be replaced without doing a full rebuild?  Any advise is appreciated.

For clarification it DOES go into drive, but there is a "lag" before actually being in gear?

Yes, I'm sorry it does go into drive after a few moments or if I give it gas.  It drives fine, but this is a problem I would like to correct if i can without a total rebuild if I can.  Thanks

Are you saying it will not go into 1st or drive range? What if you manually shift into 1st?

It will not go into drive range.  I does not go anywhere when it is cold (first in the morning).
