Gas Station pump keep shutting off whil fueling

It's very difficult to put fuel into my truck at the gas-station, and the last gas-station I was at I almost didn't manage to fuel it at all. The gas pumps constantly shut off. I try to angle the nozzle right, squeeze the trigger is little as possible, have it inserted at the right depth, and it's a constant acrobatics to maybe keep it running.

Is there something wrong with the truck or some dumb new tech with the pumps?

Had my filler neck upside down which was causing this.

You aren't flowing fuel into your tank fast enough to prevent fuel from being drawn into the safety valve on the pump. What is YMM of your truck? The fuel filler changed designs several times over the years and got larger with a larger vent. Do you have a functioning fuel tank vapor vent? If everything is as it should be and you have the earlier smaller filler, holding the nozzle upside down or further back helps. Also, don't go full throttle.

My DD OBS (7.4) has this same issue, but not at every station....

Sorry, it's a 1981 Silverado 3/4.
Don't know about the vapor vent.
