Got attacked by a wolf last night working on the truck. Tried to get some camera phone pictures of the event.....here is all I got....(crappy camera phone, but kinda funny pics)

For some reason Foster just decided he wanted to hang out under the truck with me. Turned into a petting fest and I did not finish much.

Got a temporary exhaust on the truck.  The mufflers were brand new from Flowtech. They were mounted at a funky angle in the other truck and conflict with a cross member on this one. Just sawzalled off the ends and can at least fire the truck up now and drive it to an exhaust shop to get them remounted and have tail pipes made.

Fired the truck up briefly today. Radiator leaks......JB weld!!  Trans leaks.....new fittings......no fuel delivery.......not sure what is going on there. I have a new fuel pump. Just not sure the switching valve is working right.

Tossed the new bed on the truck.  Kinda like the color, maybe the whole truck should be that color.  Strange thing is that the bod holes are off from the original short bed. (??????)

Couple of quick pics.

How so? Did you compare the two? Was one of the beds a modified 8' bed?

The original short bed was a short bed, not a modified long bed.

The rear holes seem to be off by about 1/2 inch. I compared the two and they are indeed drilled differently. (I know...strange). For the moment I redrilled the rear two frame holes to at least bolt it down.

I love this truck. The wife wants me to build her one with 40's, but crewcab 4x's are hard to comeby around here. May have to start with a 2 wheel drive and convert.

If you had a comparable donor it would make it MUCH easier..  4x4's are out there though.

There are plenty of trucks out there that do "solid axle swaps"(SAS) to get rid of their IFS front ends.  Would not be any harder than that.

Find front leaf springs, weld in shackle mounts, find front axle, transfer case, shifter, driveshaft, steering etc. (easier to keep looking for a 4x4)

I am giving thought to using a 4x4 lwb extended cab frame from a ninety something truck to build one...it would need to be shortened 5".  For what I would do pulling a stock trailer to cattle shows and the sale barn it would be perfect with the IFS.

This post is awesome...  Clearly a shhhweeet project that you've got here.  I've been following this post since the beginning and I can't wait to see the turnout.

I hear ya with the comments about the weather!  I always find myself begging for some decent weather right around this time of year but at least these make it tolerable....

Frozen tundra... UGH...

So today I bench tested both pumps......

The brand new electric pump makes noise but does not actually pump!!  The cam lobe on this engine must be just flat enough to not pump the mechanical pump enough.

Bought a block off plate today, exchanged the bad electric pump for a new one. Wired it all up and it fired right up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!! For the first time in a YEAR I pulled it forward into it's storage spot UNDER IT'S OWN POWER!!!!!

I still have lots of things to do before trying to drive it. But that was enough for today.

MrK5 from Coloradok5.com has been working on some signage for the truck. Here is a teaser of one of the things he has come up with.  What do you guys think?  He has a sign shop here in Colorado for those of you that want to check it out  http://www.biltritesign.com
