Dashboard light...
« on: December 10, 2006, 11:23:00 pm »
Ok .... maybe this is simple....
I have an old dog of a '77 it runs great... brakes have been completely redone(including new booster and master cylinder)... nothing locking up it operates better than any of my newer cars.. But on the way home the Brake light on the dash came on.. (on newer cars it means the tail ligt is out) ..my passenger tail light is dim but everything works.... what could this light mean?

check your emergency brake pedel, if there is no cable sometimes the pedal will drop slightly causing the light to come on

Thanks 79ChevyK20Guy
....I tried lifting the pedal with my foot while going down the road...then I stopped  and pressed the emergency brake down (it is attached) and released it too.....no luck....... :(

Pull the wire off of the combination valve and see if it goes out.

Awesome I'll try that....Pop Jackson...(the guy that replumbed the lines and rebuilt the brakes for me replaced the combination valve)  I never thought about it again.... (of course where they hide those things on a '77 no one really wants to look for it )

Thanks :)

Are you asking where it is located?  If so it is on the front frame brace at the bottom of the master cylinder lines where the steering box bolts to the frame.
