How much would you pay?
« on: January 06, 2007, 10:33:00 pm »
How much would you pay for a 1983 Chevy K30 4x4, Auto, 350, Crew Cab, Dually, Power Windows, Power Locks, A/C (would need to be recharged or connected) and has a plow frame?

The motor(not original) needs a rebuild, the tranny and t-case have been rebuilt.

The frame looks like it has been painted in the past but could panted agian but not that bad.

The cab needs cab corners, rockers and 2 rear doors, the floors are solid.

The truck originaly had a dump body on it, but it dosen't have any PTO stuff on it. It is a project truck. At the moment the truck radiator support and grill needs to be put back on.

The truck doasen't run and drive!

If the dually part an 4x4 and crew cab parts are important to you, you could pay up to $3k if it needs that much work.

If those items are not that important to you, you have so many more trucks to chose from, I'd say under $1500.  As I have said many times, depends on where you are too, a Mississippi dollar and a NY dollar are completely different.

If you don't buy it, would you let me know where it is? I would pay 1k for that truck if it was fairly close...

If I was to buy this truck I was thinking about putting a Fuel Ijected Motor in it. I know that Painless has kits for chevy FI from TBI to Vortec. What do you think would FI be a good idea?

The reason that I am looking at EFI is that I want better fuel economy and in the winter it would be easiser to start. Is there anything else that EFI will do on a positinve note? Which verison of EFI is the best? (TBI,TPI,LS1,LT1 or Vortec)

Drivability, automatic compensation for different environments/climates, longer engine life,

If I had a choice, I would select the new Vortec motors.  I have one in the progress stage right now....

Do you need any adapters to the mounting of the vortec motor in to a 4x4 1981 p/u? If so where would I obtain them?

Did you check my build up link?
Street And Performance is where you need to get them from or Advanced Adapters.

Thanks Roundedline.

Now for another question, simply put the a crew cab with an 8ft bed is too long, I would like to put a 6ft on but was woundering how much it would cost to have the frame shortened?

Read this:
www.73-87chevytrucks.com/lwb_to_swb.htm

If you mount a short bed on there you can tell where it needs to be shortened....

Can I use the stock motor mounts on the 81 Crew cab to put in an '99 LT1 motor? If not are there any adapters that I can use?

first off street and performance mounts are weak in my opinion. go to brphotrods.com contact him the guys name is phil brewer he sells adapter plates that will work to put the 99 LT1 into your truck. and they are made of steel instead of aluminum like s&p. if you want any more info about them contact him. or you can ask me i used to work for him.
