Loose Gear Selector lever.
« on: March 09, 2007, 05:06:00 am »
I have a 1982 Chevy K10 with automatic transmission. The gear selector lever is loose. When I pull it back to change gears it does not want to spring forward very well when I let go of it. What do I most likely need to do to repair it and how difficult is it? Thanks for sharing your knowledge. It is appreciated.

If you have a column shifter the bushings wear out on the frame pivot and the shift linkage wears out where it connects to the trans. An easy cheap fix is to take up the slop by sliding a piece of vacuum hose over the worn components...
