You can reuse your exhaust manifold as well as long as it isn't warped or cracked.  There is a special paint you can paint them...Eastwood and other retailers sell the stuff...a grayish color made to withstand the high temps.

Make sure they fit before you paint them. Most of the time they warp and wont line up with the bolt holes

Sandblast them first of course and they'll look like new.

Pick and buy your product before you blast them. There are some products out there that are designed to go over non scaly rust. They do not perform well on clean metal.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

I know this is an old post. I was boared and skiming through the old ones. I used PORs manifold paint on my 79 K30 dump about six weeks ago and they still look good. Even with the salt etc. on our roads. I needle scaled them to knock all the scale rust off and painted it on. No sandblasting. PS I had a heck of a time getting the right side back on as it got about a 1/32 of an inch shorter while off the truck overnight!

every mechanic should have a few manifold spreaders!

The best way of removing the rust is usually chemically...
This technique works

throw that puppy in your oven and bake at 250 for about 20 minutes.  she should expand pretty darn well.
