78 GMC to restore 77 chevy
« on: March 22, 2007, 05:18:00 pm »
First time on the board. I have a 77 chevy 3/4T 4wd with manual transmission and the box and cab are rotted. I am planning to use the cab and box from a 78 GMC 3/4T 2wd with automatic transmission to restore my 77 chevy. I'm planning to gut the 78 GMC cab and install seat and dash from the 77. Are there any surprises that I'm going to run into during this cab swap? I'm aware of the problem of the 2wd cab floor hump being too low for the 4wd transfer case and the suggestions to resolve but is there anything else? Thanks for the help!

Just a thought but if its your first time out with a C K series, and you have a digital camera, maybe take some pics of the process. They might be helpful in reassembly. working a on a 4.0 motor swap in a Cherokee right now. It would have been easier if I had done this.
