82 C10 Choke Heater Circuit

I'm putting a new instrument cluster, all AutoMeter gages and wiring from American Autowire, in my 82 C10. The Chevy wiring schematic I have shows circuit 931 going from the choke heater to the original instrument cluster wiring connector. But I can't figure out where it goes from there (inside the instrument cluster) and what else it is connected to. The Autowire wiring diagram just shows circuit 931 coming to pin 15 on the instrument cluster connector. I think 931 should be connected to a 12v switched circuit so 12v goes to the choke heater only when the ignition switch is on. I talked to an Autowire SME (subject matter expert) yesterday at Carlisle. When I explained my theory, he just said, "yeah, that sounds right". Can anyone give me any more information??

That is for the Choke light. It goes out once the engine starts. If the choke coil opens (becomes faulty) it should illuminate the choke lamp on your dash. Just eliminate it.

Thanks for your feedback. I understand what your saying.

Is the 12v that goes to the choke heater going directly from the Choke fuse in the Fuse Block? I saw on a wiring diagram on autozone.com that a wire coming off the ignition switch connector, on the steering column, goes to the choke. But they didn't show where that wire came from.

Maybe I can find more info on the Chevy wiring schematic now that I know about the choke light and the wire on the ignition switch connector.

Any additional info is welcome.

The electric current is supplied to the ceramic resistor of the choke coil from the oil pressure switch when the engine is running and oil pressure is above the minimum value for the switch.

Could this be why my choke light now stays on all the time? I found out tonight i'm only getting 3V to my choke heater.
