Needs to primed if sits for a few days?

78 c10, 350/edelbrock 4bbl, if sits more than 2 days I have to prime it to get it started. If I run it everyday it starts fine. Any ideas I'am going work on it this weekend, thanks.

It's not uncommon to see this happen with an older truck. The carburetor is losing fuel in the float bowl and it may need a rebuild. Also, the fuel system was designed to allow the fuel to drain back to the tank if sitting for a while, so it takes some extra pumping on the accelerator to refill the bowl.

Ok thanks, I will see if I can adjust the flood bowl this weekend. Carb is fairly new edelbrock but I know it did catch firer before I brought it, could this have caused the problem.
The carb is a edelbrock 1405 or 1406 is this carb hard to rebuild? Never rebuild a carb before, thanks.

There is really nowhere for the bowl to leak in the design of this carb. If it's draining back into the tank and causing a hard start you can do a few things. one is install a check valve. Another is an electric fuel pump.

Isn't pumping before starting the nature of carb'd vehicles in general? The more days I let mine sit, the more I have to pump the throttle before it will fire. Even if sitting for a few hours, I have to give it a stab or two for it to start. I have an Edelbrock 1406 I believe (650 cfm elec. choke).

No - a normal start for a carb equipped vehicle is to depress the accelerator half way and crank the engine. Remove your foot from the throttle when engine starts. Give it a try, pumping multiple times may actually make harder starts

Almost sure gas is leaking back into line. I will check to see if gas is in the clear fuel before and after I try to start it tommorow. I have 2 trucks and the other is fine. Choke(manual) pump a couple times and starts right up.
I have an edelbrock electric choke that I don't think is working, have to check it tommorow. Found out the guy that had it before me half
wired the choke and lockup converter to the heater motor. (Need to check out the lockup converter also)Could be without a choke not get fuel sucked into carb? If anyone has or knows any info on edelbrock electric choke please join in or let know where to find some. I'am going to check edelbrock site tonight.
Thought about electric fuel pump but not sure I want to go that route. Check valve may not be a bad idea. Any other thoughts would be welcome, going to work on it tommorow. Thanks

Just put an electric fuel pump on, fixes all those problems.

Choke was out of adjustment, only closed 1/2 way. Did not start for 2 days, no gas in gas filter, adjusted choke today and bingo started right up. Hope this solved the problem, if not I will try adjusting the floats. I will let you know what happens, thanks for the help.
