Hard start after intake replacement.

Just replaced my stock cast iron 4bbl intake with a Edelbrock Performer. I kept the same q-jet carb and other than a slight idle adjustment did not change anything. THE PROBLEM IS....now after sitting over night my 82 C10 w/ 305 is hard to crank (start, turns over just fine). I have to pump gas pedal SEVERAL times, and it starts likes it's not getting enough fuel. When warm (after reaching normal operating temp) truck cranks right up....sits for a few hours and is hard to START. (turns over just fine).....any idea's???

did you install the gaskets properly and TOQUE the manifold to specs in sequence? VERY critical. Make sure everything is torqued and all your vacuum hoses are reconnected then check for vacuum leaks. Check under the carb, pop the oil cap off and check that it isn't leaking internally. If all checks out ok I would check the choke and if it's still hard to start see if the fuel is draining down from the fuel bowl and loading up in the intake. The stock Q-jets like to leak. i usually epoxy the rivets.

Yes sir, the gaskets are installed correctly. and were torqued in sequence and to specs.  I will recheck all the vaccum lines for leaks and or cracks..... thanks for the help. Carb may be slightly out of adjustment also.  I rechecked timing and I seem to be good there too.......

Try playing with your timing a little more and see what happens.

Yea, I was going to ask if your distributor was %100 for sure back in correctly. 
Did you strobe the timing yet?

WOW it finally quit raining !!!!!!! I will recheck timing this weekend, may adjust some here and see what happens. I really appreciate the help and suggestions. The distributor is a new Accell unit and there is always a possibility(hehe) that I didn't get it 100% timed correctly...............
