Wow.  That motor just pops like a great big diamond on a ring.

Hey Vile, I just primered one of my heads last night. I degreased it with Simple Green first and then went over again with some soapy water. I didn't wash them down though. I took a clean cotton cloth and wiped them down. I know that's not as good as but I was worried about hosing them down since the heads are assembled. Should I be?

Anyway, I took the time to mask off and cut around the machined header flange surface (which was a PITA) but looking back at how you painted yours I see you didn't bother masking off that surface. Does it need to be paint-free? And I stuffed some tape into the plug holes but I see you just put plugs in and painted over. Interesting.

Yeah I painted right over a crappy set of spark plugs. You can mask the exhaust port flanges. Sometimes I do other times I don't bother. I've never had it cause a problem either way. As far as rinsing, you just want all solvent gone. Soapy water should be your final wash. After you wash it, dry it up with your shop air then prime. Once you have it assembled you'll have plenty of lubrication where it needs to be.

Alright, good to know. I've got a different plan of attack for the 2nd head now.

I just got off the phone with Summit and they're going to warranty everything except the crank and rods. I'll post details later.

So they'll cover everything except the costs you're most concerned about.  Well at least it's something.

Oh it's just an unfortunate pita but I'll probably just end up resizing the rods and fixing the existing crank. The crank looked good still but I won't know til I measure it.

Fate may be on your side Vile ;)

Hopefully you'll be able to save that crank

Did you loose all oil pressure when it happened?

Are you talking about the stainless louvered one?

Oil pressure never flinched
