my 79 with a bone stock orginal 350 has started ticking- it was kinda dark when i was looking at it when i got home but im about 95% sure its comin from under the valve covers- how exactly do i adjust that so it doenst tap anymore

Check the oil level and condition first. If it's still ticking pick up a mechanics stethoscope and pinpoint exactly which one is doing it.
