im going to assume your truck had a factory 4 speaker system. check to see if the speaker leads are still in the top corners of the dash (just take out glove box and have a look) and in back corners of cab. if nothing is left then it all depends on what kind system you installing ex an amp and how many speakers and where you plan on putting them

there are still wire leads to the speakers in the back there just cut off so there an inch long but i was planning on replacing the all the speakers anyway. i just need to know if there all still hookied up under the dash or if i need to rewire everything. what do you think would be the best? if i have to rewire the entire audio how do you do it??

for speakers behind seat just take off sill plate off of both sides and run the new speaker wire on each side and have the wire come out to the right of the gas pedal to connect to stereo. as for the front depends where your putting them. i have them in fiberglass kick panels i made. if you chose to have them like factory then take off the dash pad and fish the wire down on the drivers side. you could put them in your doors but thats a bit more of a pain.

Do you just buy plain speaker wire from walmart or what? how would you hook it up to the headunit?

car speaker wire from wally world will be just fine, better than stuff that usually comes with new speakers. as for attaching the wires to stereo, im lazy so i just twist the ends togther and slide heat shrink tubing over connection. some solder some use crimp connecters or simple ol black tape.
