fuel filter nut..help!

i have an 84 gmc c2500 with a 350 4bbl (factory)...well, there is a big nut that like covers the fuel filter and then there is a smaller nut that tightens the fuel line to that big nut.....i cant get the small nut loose, it looks like a previous owner put some of that white plummers tape on the threads..............what do u suggest i do? cut the line and make up a new one? and can u buy a new nut (the big one) ?

hold the large nut with a wrench (1" I think) and Use a line wrench (flare nut) 5/8 to break the line free.

i tried that, i held the big nut and used the "2 wrench trick" for the smaller nut...all it wants to do is crimp the line from twisting

So you are saying the line it binding in the fitting instead of just the fitting rotating.  Have you tried so PB Blaster or equivalent to see if it would loosen.  Using both wrenches should loosen the fitting.

yea i sprayed the h*ll out of it with PB and tried using two wrenches. i also tried hitting the wrenches with a hammer.

I cut the line when I had this happen and just used the big nut to remove the nut and piece of line. Slip a piece of rubber fuel line over it and a couple of hose clamps and you're good to go.

heat it up with the torch! lol Seriously just try working it back and fourth and if it wont come loose just cut the line and run a new one.

alright im taking pugsys advice since he already did it to his. and i also did that on my transmission lines at one point too.

Well I like the torch idea the best..........it will solve all your problems!

As long as its not leaking heat it with the torch it will be fine. We are not talking cherry red here!
PS. you don't need plumbers tap on a flared fitting / nut. The flare is what seals not the threads.
