Wheel/Tire Size for 1985 chevy c10 2wd longbed
« on: August 29, 2007, 04:51:06 pm »
Hi, We have been restoring my dads 1985 Chevy C10 2WD Long Bed Truck, and was wondering what size of wheels and tires would look good on it? It currently has 15x7" Chevy Rallye wheels on it with 235/75/15 tires, they look like they sit under the truck to far,and they are not very wide. He is wanting to put a set of 15x8" aluminum wheels on it. The truck will remain at "STOCK RIDE HEIGHT". We would like to know what back spacing of wheel to use,and what tire size would look best on it,without sticking out past the fenders and bed? I believe the wheels are 5"x5" bolt circle. This is our first truck project,so we don't know what everybody uses.   Thanks Alot!!   Brian

Sit under the truck too far as in closer to the inner fender than the outer?
Are you wanting them wider and taller or just wider?  Do you like the height they are now?

I would stick with 4" backspacing like the stock wheels for the front on the 8" tire.  You can go about 1" (3" BS) wider in the rear to even the spacing out as the rear track is narrower, but if you want to rotate the tires, keep them the same.

Hi, yes they sit under the truck farther than we like, towards the inner fender. We want a wider tire, and maybe a little shorter tire, but don't want them so wide they stick out from under the truck, just even with the fender wells.  Thanks for the reply!!   Brian

These trucks looked pathetic head on or from behind with stock wheels. They were tucked so far under the body it's ridiculous not to mention the rear end is what 4" narrower in the rear? I usually put 8" wides in front and 10" wides on the rear for the 2wd trucks.

I can't remember my backspacing off hand. I have 15x8 front and 15 x 10 rear

The 7" rims really look puny.  I would use an 8" wide rim on the front with 3.75 or 4" BS and a 10 on the rear with about 4 or 4.5" BS.
275/60/15's are about .9" shorter than what you have, but they are also 1.5" wider...

this is and old pic of my truck with a 4/6 drop and stock 15x8 ralleys with 4" BS running 275/60/15's.
