exactly what the thread says. Are these hard on ball joints and stuff? I read somthing about you can only use factory off set rims with drop spindles? If i get a 3 or 2.5" drop out of the front how much do i need out of the rear to get it level of slighty raked? it for an 85 swb 2wd.

Any of them are good, I have used AIM, Belltech, Western.  The have no different effects on balljoints as stock ones.
How much are you planning on dropping it, only 3" in front, for the rear you need about a 2" difference to get it level, to get it raked some drop the rear about the same amount, so 3" or so.

I use Bell Tech. I'm sure others are just as good since you see the same names selling them after all these years. One thing I've found with some wheels you may need spacers and to grind the lower control arm to get your wheels to clear. As far as your drop that'll be aprticular to your truck based on springs. Use a tape measure and just measure how far down you want it to go.

what is the diff betweeb an axle flp kit and the drop hanger/shackle kit. Am I right if i say the flip kit is just the axle rides ontop of the springs? which is better?

you are correct, a flip just move the axle from below to above the spring.
Better depends on what you are doing.  If you want more less than 5" of drop, that eliminates a flip kit, if you want more then 5", you're better off starting with a flip.
