« on: September 29, 2007, 07:05:39 am »
hi, so on my car i installed a new washer motor from napa and it worked. then probably months down the road it kind of stopped working. when i pushed the washer button nothing happened, but when i released it it came on and stayed on....i think i tryed flipping the plug the other way around and it still did it, so what is the problem? haha

well when it turned on after i released it, it had more power than it should have because it shot the washer fluid over the roof! lol....i think i got it to stop squirting by turning the car/key off......so since that happened i unplugged the washer motor and removed the washer fluid resevior.

Just to clarify since it hasnt been asked yet...
Does it "pop" while idling, under load, under engine braking, coasting, hot or cold motor?  Is it a "pop" or a "knock"?  Does it increase in sound and/or speed with different RPM's?
Have you tried adjusting your carb?  Really to me it sounds more like you're running rich.  Answer these questions and we can do a better diagnostic for you.

uhm, in the engine bay it kind of sounds like a knock and at the tailpipe it sounds like a pop. its pops alot at idle while its warming up and it starts doing it within a minute of running. it pops no matter wat temp the engine is but pops less when its warmed up.

Don't you have an integral pump/motor assembly? You can bypass the stock pump and put in an aftermarket washerpump so you don't have to replace the whole motor....

no mine has a wiper arm motor, and then it has a washer pump that bolts on top of it but its separate peices......the old one was drivin off the wiper motor, the new one mounts the same except it uses its own electric motor.
