alright stroker boys, need your assistance

is it possible to build a 383 out of a stock 350 for under $2k?

do i need an MSD ignition, heads, cam, all the top end work, or could i just do the 383 kit and call it good until i get enough money for the top end?
new oil pump? pan?

i have an edelbrock 4 barrel(not exactly sure what kind think its a 650) with an edelbrock intake(not sure on it either) on a 305 with Lil itty bitty headers.. I'm looking to buy a 350 and build a 383 if its within budget..

i can get the block bored .030 over for about $20 a cylinder.

can someone make a list of every expense they had just to convert to a 383 please?

If you're looking to go cheap cheap just buy the crank and piece it together. probably cost you under a $1000

The cheapest way is probably to buy the whole rotating assembly including the balancer and flexplate. Your Edelbrock carb and intake will be fine for now. Your stock heads will also work for now.
I'm not sure about the cam. I read somewhere about clearance issues.??

You talking about a small base circle cam.  I don't remember the rules exactly on those (I only dealt with BBC's in the past), but if you are keeping the stock 400 rods, they aren't an issue, if you go up to the longer 350 rods I think this is where you may need the special cam.

I think with the 400 crank and the 350 rods there may be some clearance issues with the block as well you may need to attend to.....where the rods swing past the oil pan flange I think

Get a 400 crank/ flexplate/balancer.  That is really the only difference.  The connecting rods should be bought from summit or somewhere for the 383, since they need to be ground a little for clearance.  That's it.

You can buy the entire kit from summit.  You really don't need to do anything to the top end.

The Summit kit is actually quite nice.  Under $2k?  EASY
