In the past I have had limited slip and it works well.  IMO street driving is no place for a locker.  They really scuff the tires around corners and are just plain dangerous on wet streets going around corners.  My $.02

What is the application?
I have ran limited slips only on the street, If it were offroad I would use a locker if it spent the majority of time off the road.

I'm partial to an electric or air locker over limited slip myself, lets you get the best traction when you need it.

A couple years ago, I had the opportunity to drive a '77 caddy that ran sub-11 quarters, and it had a spooled rear end..talk about a nightmare on wet streets..accelerate into a corner and be looking back where you came, wondering what just happened and why your head is spinning.   :-\

I had an Eaton Posi with 3.73's put into my 12 bolt. Haven't got to drive it yet but someday I'll post how my truck runs and drives.

For a street vehicle an Electric or Air locker is overkill.  I recommend an Eaton, that is what I use.

Nothing has ever proven smoother to me than Auburn Pro carriers....Bite hard slip smooth. Bullet proof Posi and I've put hardcore Big Block power to them. I've used them in several applications with never one failure knock on wood!

You need to remove the meatball cover. Usually it's stamped on the ring gear. ex  41 : 11

41 ring gear teeth

11 pinion drive gear teeth. The formula is simple Driven over drive

41 ÷ 11 = 3.72727 (3.73:1)

Auburn limited slips are awesome, but i can't complain about Eatons either.  ARB air lockers are great, but really expensive.  if you have that kinda dough then go for it...you'll love it.  but if not, then just get an Auburn or Eaton posi...

as for you the_legend_1981, read my reply to your gear question...you DON'T have to pull your diff cover...
