The 4L80E is essentially the 3L80 or TH400 with an overdrive, lock up converter and electronic shift control. It's heavy duty and can take a good beating. So yeah it is a nice trans to beef up and put behind a big block that's for sure and gives you that overdrive so you can enjoy a little cruise down the highway...

i know i'm gonna have to get a computer/wiring to run the 4L80E...i'm not worried about that...i'm bringing this truck into our century slowly but surely!
oh, and BTW, the electronic version of the 700R4 is the 4L60E...
