power steering leak
« on: November 18, 2007, 08:16:11 pm »
My 1980 C-10 had a bad power steering leak.  I replaced the pump and the leak stopped.  However, I've noticed a small amount of fluid leaking out of the top of the power steering box where the steering column inserts into the box.  Is there a seal or something in there that I need to replace?  Or, do I need a new power steering box?

Thanks,
T.J.

That's the worm gear seal. Unless you know how to set worm bearing preload and properly adjust the lash after you replace all the seals you might be better off with a reman unit.
